Enable multi-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires organization members to provide a dynamic verification code from an authenticator app in addition to their password when they sign in to NineData. Enabling MFA for an organization strengthens account security for all organization members.

Before you begin​

  • You have already created or joined an organization, and the organization has subscribed to DevOps Enterprise. Please ensure that your annual or monthly subscription is still active. For more information, please refer to Manage Organizations.
  • Your current account has been switched to the target organization. For more information, please refer to Switching to an Organization.
  • Install an authenticator app on a mobile device, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Procedure​

Enable MFA​

  1. Sign in to the NineData Console.

  2. Open Account > Organization.
  3. In the User Security area, turn on the switch next to MFA.
  4. Use the authenticator app on your mobile device to scan the QR code on the page. The app generates an MFA token. Enter the 6-digit dynamic verification code from the token on the NineData page, and click OK.
tip
  • After MFA is enabled, all organization members must bind an MFA app at their next sign-in. Notify organization members before enabling MFA.
  • For subsequent sign-ins, members must provide a verification code generated by the bound MFA token.

Bind MFA during first sign-in​

After an administrator enables MFA, organization members are prompted to bind MFA at their next sign-in.

  1. Enter your account password in the NineData console to complete the basic verification. NineData opens a QR code dialog.

  2. Use the authenticator app on your mobile device to scan the QR code. The app generates an MFA token. Enter the 6-digit dynamic verification code from the token on the NineData page, and click OK.

    tip

    For subsequent sign-ins, use the verification code generated by this MFA token.

Disable MFA​

  1. Sign in to the NineData Console.

  2. Open Account > Organization.
  3. In the User Security area, turn off the switch next to MFA.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, click OK.

Result​

When MFA is enabled, organization members must bind an MFA app during their first sign-in and provide a valid dynamic token during subsequent sign-ins. When MFA is disabled, the additional MFA verification step is no longer required.
