Deployment Environment Requirements

This page describes the server environment requirements for NineData dedicated cluster deployment.

Compute Resource Management

1: Operating System Status Requirements

Ensure that the target installation environment is in a "clean state," meaning that no other applications are running or installed on the host that conflict with this software. This includes, but is not limited to, security software, performance monitoring tools, or any services that may consume significant host resources. A clean environment minimizes issues during installation and helps the software operate at peak performance after installation.

2: System and Kernel Version Requirements

This software requires a system kernel version of at least 3.10.0, and a revision version above 1160, with an x86_64 kernel architecture. This requirement ensures that the software can properly utilize necessary system functions and security updates.

The supported operating systems and their versions are as follows:

  • CentOS: 7.9
  • CentOS Stream: 9, 8
  • Ubuntu: 24.04, 22.04, 20.04, 18.04
  • Debian: 12.10, 11.11
  • OpenSUSE: 15.5
  • RockyLinux: 9.5, 8.10

3: Check Your Kernel Version

Before installing this software, please follow these steps to confirm whether your system meets the kernel version requirements:

  1. Open the terminal.

  2. Enter the command uname -r and press the Enter key.

  3. Check the displayed kernel version number and make sure it is not lower than 3.10.0. For example, if your kernel version is 3.10.0-1160.90.1.el7.centos.plus.x86_64, your system meets the installation requirements. If the version number is lower, upgrade your operating system or kernel.

    Version Number Explanation
    • Major version number: The first part (e.g., 3.10.0) indicates the major version number of the kernel.
    • Revision number: The number following the major version number (e.g., 1160.88.1) indicates the revision or build number specific to the distribution.
    • Distribution identifier: Such as el7, indicating that the kernel version is built for Enterprise Linux 7.
    • Additional information: Such as centos.plus, indicating that this is a kernel from the CentOS Plus repository, and x86_64 indicates the architecture supported by the kernel.

Storage Resource Management

To ensure that the software can be installed and run effectively, your system must meet the following hardware and system configuration requirements. Please check carefully before installation to avoid any compatibility or performance issues.

1: Disk Requirements

At least 500 GB of available disk space is required. This ensures that there is enough space for software installation, data storage, and subsequent operations. Use high-performance drives, such as SSDs, for better read and write performance.

In a high-availability deployment mode, 2 disks are needed (system disk + data disk) to isolate cluster data from operational data, ensuring system stability.

2: File System Requirements

For optimal performance and stability, we strongly recommend using the xfs or ext4 file system. The ext4 file system is recommended as the preferred file system for this software due to its efficient storage capabilities, good recovery features, and widespread support.

tip

When using the xfs file system, special attention must be paid to ensure that d_type is enabled; otherwise, the deployment and operation of containers may result in unknown errors.

3: Check Your Disk Space and File System

Before installing this software, please follow these steps to confirm whether your disk space and file system meet the requirements:

  • Check Disk Space
    1. Open the terminal.
    2. Enter the command df -h and press the Enter key.
    3. Locate the disk partition you plan to use for software installation and confirm that its available space is not less than 500GB.
  • Confirm File System Type
    1. Open the terminal.
    2. Enter the command df -T and press the Enter key.
    3. Locate the disk partition where you plan to install the software and confirm that the file system type of that partition is ext4.
tip

It is crucial to ensure that there is enough disk space before deployment, as insufficient disk space may lead to installation failure or unstable software operation.

Although this software supports multiple file systems, ext4 provides the best performance and stability for this software. If your system uses a different file system, use ext4 for the best experience.

Network Resource Management

To ensure effective communication between software components and maintain overall performance and security, follow these network configuration requirements. These requirements are essential for smooth interconnectivity between devices.

1: Network Interconnectivity

All machines involved in the deployment must be able to communicate with each other. This means that each machine should be able to receive and send data to any other machine. It is not required for all machines to be in the same subnet, but it must be ensured that there is a clear network path between them, whether through an internal network or across subnets.

2: Security Groups and Firewall Rules

Ensure that security groups or firewall rules do not introduce communication restrictions between machines. Configure all participating machines for full interconnection so they can exchange data freely. This is crucial for stability, performance, and complete software functionality.

3: Verify Your Network Interconnectivity

Before starting the software installation, run the following checks to verify that network connectivity meets the requirements:

  1. Confirm that all machines can access the network and that network settings (such as IP addresses, gateways, and DNS configurations) are correct.
  2. Use the ping or telnet command to test the connectivity between each machine and other machines. This helps to ensure that there are no obstacles in the network that hinder communication between machines.

4: Port Description

The ports listed in the table below are required for the installation and operation of NineData. Please ensure that these ports are not occupied.
