Server Requirements
This article describes the hardware requirements for NineData dedicated cluster servers.
Server Quantity Requirements
NineData uses a distributed architecture, and cluster deployment depends on the available server resources. The number of servers required for a NineData cluster should be evaluated based on the number of replication tasks that run concurrently.
Because the number of concurrently running NineData tasks can vary, the number of servers required for the cluster also varies. This section explains how to estimate the number of servers needed under different task volumes.
| No. | Configuration Description | Resource Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The minimum configuration for one NineData cluster, with 32 cores / 64 GB available for incremental replication tasks | (16 cores, 32 GB memory, 500 GB disk) * 3 servers |
| 2 | Minimum resources for one one-way incremental replication task | 2 cores, 4 GB |
| 3 | Minimum resources for one bidirectional incremental replication task | 4 cores, 8 GB |
| 4 | Minimum resources for one high-performance incremental replication task | 8 cores, 16 GB |
| 5 | Minimum resources for one bidirectional high-performance incremental replication task | 16 cores, 32 GB |
Based on the resource requirement of one one-way CDC task (
2 cores, 4 GB), the required server resources for different numbers of databases are as follows:If the number of databases to be replicated is less than or equal to 16 (
N = 64 / 4 = 16), the minimum cluster resources are sufficient and no extra servers are required. If the number of databases to be replicated is greater than 16 (
N = 64 / 4 = 16), the excess workload must be supported by scaling out the servers. For example, if the number of source databases to be supported isN, the estimated number of additional servers can be calculated with the following logic. Use the roundup function, which means rounding up. In other words, when[(N - 16) * 4 / XGB]is not an integer, round it up and add one server. Here,XGBis the memory capacity of each server, for example32 GB.
Based on the resource requirement of one bidirectional CDC task (
4 cores, 8 GB), and assuming each server has32 GBof memory, the required server resources for different numbers of databases are as follows:If the number of databases to be replicated is less than or equal to 8 (
N = 64 / 8 = 8), the minimum cluster resources are sufficient and no extra servers are required. In this case, the required number of servers is3.If the number of databases to be replicated is greater than 8 (
N = 64 / 8 = 8), the minimum cluster can run 8 bidirectional replication tasks, and the remaining bidirectional tasks require additional server resources. The total number of required servers is shown below:
Based on the resource requirement of one high-performance CDC task (
8 cores, 16 GB), and assuming each server has32 GBof memory, the required server resources for different numbers of databases are as follows:If the number of databases to be replicated is less than or equal to 4 (
N = 64 / 16 = 4), the minimum cluster resources are sufficient and no extra servers are required. In this case, the required number of servers is3.If the number of databases to be replicated is greater than 4 (
N = 64 / 16 = 4), the minimum cluster can run 4 one-way CDC replication tasks, and the remaining one-way CDC tasks require additional server resources. The total number of required servers is shown below:
Based on the resource requirement of one bidirectional high-performance CDC task (
16 cores, 32 GB), and assuming each server has32 GBof memory, the required server resources for different numbers of databases are as follows:If the number of databases to be replicated is less than or equal to 2 (
N = 64 / 32 = 2), the minimum cluster resources are sufficient and no extra servers are required. In this case, the required number of servers is3.If the number of databases to be replicated is greater than 2 (
N = 64 / 32 = 2), the minimum cluster can run 2 bidirectional replication tasks, and the remaining bidirectional tasks require additional server resources. The total number of required servers is shown below:
